How to get published!
Many writers dream of
seeing something they wrote get published. However, what most discover is
that getting a manuscript published is not an easy task.
Here are some very simple and
practical things you can do to that will help increase the odds that your
manuscript will get published.
1. The most important thing
you can do is constantly work on your writing skills. You should write
something every single day. Carry a pad and pencil with you at all times so
you can jot down ideas as they come to you. Read books about writing and
study the publishing industry. Learn all the publishing jargon and come to
understand fully how all the levels of publishing work.
2. Have your manuscript
professionally edited. Of course, you can have your friends and relatives
read your work but nothing can take the place of having an independent third
party give you some sound advice.
3. If you plan to submit your
manuscript to a big traditional publishing house you will need to find an
agent. A book agent will market your manuscript and work on your behalf with
the major publishing houses. Never give any money to a book agent. There are
plenty of reputable agents who do not require upfront money. Before
contacting an agent you will need to develop a synopsis of your book. Most
agents will want to see a synopsis before they look at your full manuscript.
4. Finally never give up. The
longer you keep at it the more your odds increase that you will get
published. LazerBooks.com would be happy to help you in any way that we can.
